6, 1932 to April 11, 2018
Fernando "Andy" Orlando beloved husband,
father, grandfather and great-grandfather died at his home in Reno,
NV on April 11, 2018 at the age of 85. He is survived by his wife
of 60 years, Judy Orlando, and his four children: daughter Kathryn
Orlando, daughter Sharon Boilesen and husband Doug, son Bruce Orlando
and wife Claudia, and son Brian Orlando and wife Trisha. Andy is also
survived by his brother Joe, his eight grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents Michael and Serefina Orlando
and brothers Tony, Emilio (Ace) and Fred.
Andy was born in Dos Palos, CA on December
6, 1932. He graduated from Dos Palos High School in 1950 and served
in the United States Air Force from 1952-1956. He attended San Jose
City College on GI bill where he was a quarterback on the football
team. He married Judy in 1957 and they raised their family in California
living in San Jose and Pleasanton and then as empty nesters living
in Grass Valley, Sacramento, Lake Tahoe, Hawaii, and Reno. Andy worked
for Carnation Co. and later was a successful businessman with his
own ice cream distribution business in the San Jose and Sacramento
areas.
Andy was an avid golfer, loved to watch
his San Francisco Giants and 49ers and to read his morning Chronicle
and Herb Caen. He loved traveling with his wife and especially enjoyed
making Puerto Vallarta an annual winter destination for over 40 years.
A memorial service was held on May 4,
2018 at San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery in Santa Nella, California
to celebrate Andy's life.
