The Dougherty Museum has a small collection of musical instruments including phonographs, pianos, organs, radios and music boxes but the museum features automobiles, farm equipment and coaches.

The museum was opened to the public in 1977 and is based on the collection of Ray G. Dougherty whose family, after his death, organized it as a 501 (c)3 private operating foundation.
